After the launch of some high-end
devices, LG is again the Talk of the Town with its new
budget device of the L series the LG Optimus L9. We obviously are not
gonna compare the device with the company's Optimus G, as that would
be very much unfair for the newbie. As you can infer from the LG
Optimus L9 pictures, it is very much similar to the L7 with its
chrome trim and black, Gorilla Glass coated face. It runs into a
measurement of 131.9 x 68.2 x 9.1 mm and weighs just about 125 grams
making it comfortable enough to hold. The back cover comes with a
textured matte surface giving it a premium look and it is better than
the L7's striped backing.
It has a removable cover revealing the
battery, SIM card and a microSD card slot, which again gives it a
drawback of not providing Hot-Swap option and every time you need to
get to the memory card, you'll have to take the battery out. The
device sports a 4.5-inch qHD TFT LCD display with a resolution of 960
x 540 pixels, which again shows an improvement over the L7's
4.3-inch, 800 x 480 resolution display. Under the sunlight, Optimus
L9 is quit legible only if you adjust the brightness to 100%. It does
not come with an auto- brightness setting, so every time the lighting
conditions change you will have to adjust the phone's brightness.
Though the Optimus L9's 1 GHz dual-core
TI OMAP 4430 processor is not as amazing as the dual- core
Snapdragon S4 processor, it certainly is pretty good. The device is
powered by a 2,150mAh battery and no official data has been provided
about its average standby time. LG Optimus L9 features a 5 megapixel
rear snapper with LED flash, auto focus, geo-tagging, touch focus,
face detection and a fun feature called 'Voice shutter' where all you
need to say is cheese and the camera will click the photo itself. It
is also equipped with a front facing VGA camera, facilitating video
calls.
The LG Optimus L9 runs on Android 4.0
version Ice Cream Sandwich software in-spite of the latest Jelly Bean
version. LG Optimus L9 price varies with different online retailers,
but at the max. it can be bought at a sum of Rs. 23,000. Though its
performance won't blow you away, it's good enough for everyday tasks
and with some fun features, that are pretty amazing for a device of
this range.
